I am excited to announce my second book “Trees are Bridges to the Sky” has been chosen as the 2023 winner of the Prism Prize for Climate Literature and is scheduled to be released spring of next year from Homebound Publications!
My hope in publishing this book is to water seeds from my thesis at the University for Peace and share them beyond academia. Retaining the citations of my thesis but introducing elements of poetry, the book explores how metaphors offered by the natural world can inform the cultural change required for planetary survival.
Industrial culture often uses the metaphor of “parasite” to frame human relationships to Earth, sucking her lifeblood dry. Other cultures and species embody different relationships, demonstrating the possibility for us to become fruit, humus, humans of life, and more.
